Join us as we share in a brief history on West African dance and culture followed by a dance instruction, accompanied by live drumming, focused on basic technique, release and movement. This is a 90-minute beginner’s class, open to all ages, children require adult supervision. Common Thread programs are designed to provide varied and engaging points of entry into the work of artist Joyce J. Scott. We encourage participants to visit the Joyce J. Scott: Harriet Tubman and Other Truths exhibition as part of their experience.
