Connect with us as we share a brief history on West African drumming. Learn how to approach the drum, as we share the technique, styles, rhythms, and tempos while learning how play in concert and connect with other drummers. This is a 90-minute beginner’s class, free with admission, children under 10 require adult supervision to participate. Common Thread programs are designed to provide varied and engaging points of entry into the work of artist Joyce J. Scott. We encourage participants to visit the Joyce J. Scott: Harriet Tubman and Other Truths exhibition as part of their experience.
